Just how can empowerment tools make your world a better place, you ask?
How often were you rewarded when as a child?
Shiny Gold Stars & A+++
In school, you received a sticker for a job well done. More often than not, I would sit squirming in my seat in anticipation for the A+++ (just like the kid in “The Christmas Story),” and the shiny gold star. Finally, my paper would arrive, my chest would puff like a peacock, an internal high five would commence as I stared at my shiny gold star.
Yet, when my shiny gold star and I arrived home, my family did not celebrate. I learned to just give a shoulder shrug and keep going.
Are Empowerment Tools just for kids?
Why do we have to be children to enjoy this?
Hey, even as adults, we can relish this!
The other day, I was walking along my favorite spot, and a lady was picking up garbage that was strewn along the road. She looks up at her walking group and smiles the biggest smile.
One of the ladies says, “”I deserve a shiny gold star. One of her walking partners proclaims, “What-are you like five-six years old? Pat yourself on the back and be done with it.”
Wait, why do you have to be a kid?
The coolest part is I have used this encouragement system with my students and even with myself. So, I ask again, why does one have to be a kid?
You deserve this, I deserve this, We all deserve this.
