What is Reiki?

What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki Nature

Magical Blessings in Nature

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. Another way to say this is Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Where did this all begin?

Usui-Sensei was born on 15th August, 1865.  His pen name is often called Mikao Usui. He did not have an easy life often taking the more difficult path.  It is said in 1922 on the twenty-first day of his fast,  he climbed Mount Kurama and felt a powerful light over his head.  This spiritually awakened Usui, and he acquired Reiki.  Next. he set out to try this on his family and friends, and often this brought immediate results to them.

Mikao Usui-Founder of Reiki

Mikao Usui Bio

From there Usui, founded and opened the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Usui Reiki Healing Method Society). One would receive Reiki in a seated manner.  A student of Reiki would be appointed and study for years under the master.

Which Lineage:

When looking at having Reiki provided for you or studying, one should know the lineage of the Reiki Master.

The originator of Reiki, as previously discussed, and the others are Hayashi Sensei and Hawayo Takata.  Hayashi was asked to open his own Reiki clinic just before Usui passed and is of the Usui Reiki lineage.  He followed the ideology of the originator and founder Usui, but began then to make adjustments from seated to lying down and adding more symbols.

Mrs. Takata was born in Hawaii and had fallen ill.  She felt that her only cure would be to travel for treatment in Japan.  This is where she received and learned of Reiki.  She often felt that “The heat from their hands was so strong, she said, that she thought they were secretly using some kind of equipment.”  She learned from the ways of Reiki from Hayashi and eventually made it back to Hawaii where she opened her own practice.  Some may say that Mrs. Takata’s downfall was the amount that she charged to learn Reiki from her ($10,000), and this was not the way Usui had procured Reiki to be.  Some may say that Mrs. Takata also created her “own version” of Reiki.

Where does Reiki come from?

Reiki is a subtle energy that is brought forth from the divine.  A Reiki Master is a conduit of the Divine.

What will this feel like to the client?

This will vary from person to person.  One may feel a warm sensation, where as another many feel deeply relaxed.  It is not unusual for a client to fall asleep during a Reiki session or have the feeling of floating out of their bodies.

The benefits of Reiki:

  • Strengthens spiritual connection and brings forth an inner peace and harmony.
  • Calms the mind and aid
  • in clarity.
  • Helps provide a more positive outlook by balancing the mental and emotional wounds to help open one up to more love.
  • Balances the bodies energies.
  • Adapts to your individual needs.
  • Promotes pain relief of physical (migraines, arthritis, menstrual or sciatica) or emotional (such as grieving).
  • Eases tension, stress and relaxes muscles.
  • Enhances natural healing and help trigger the body’s natural healing system by enhancing one’s immune system and can help speed up the healing process of a long illness and can reduce the effects of medical treatments (such as Chemotherapy).

Who can benefit from Reiki

Anyone: Adults, youth, babies, maturing individuals, pets and any animal (animals love Reiki). Be sure to read part three about Animal Reiki.

How can I receive Reiki?

In a typical treatment, a Reiki Master will have the client lay on a massage table and the client remains fully clothed.  One may sit or even stand to receive treatment.  The Reiki Master will place their hands in positions that may touch or be near the client’s body.  This is intuitively and individually based per each client’s needs; the treatment may last 30-60 mins.

What is long distance Reiki

A Reiki Master will have the ability to practice long distance Reiki.  It does not matter where in the world you are, as a skilled Master will allocate the Reiki to where you are.

What to expect after a Reiki Session:

Be sure to drink lots of water the week following a Reiki session, this will help ease the releasing. Please be aware that you may get a little emotional or even have some physical releasing (mucus, coughing and even eliminating in the bathroom) as the toxins are released. Enjoy a nice hot Celtic sea salt bath with Sage or imagine a white light shower.  Be sure to ask Archangel Michael and/ or Archangel Raphael to request in releasing this from your aura and washing it down the drain.

Power of the Voice

The power of your voice can empower you or disempower you.

The choice is up to you.

Have you ever felt as if you are not being heard and raise your volume, just to discover that your vocals were misunderstood? All of a sudden you went from the little unassuming voice to the one that seems out of control.

or

You are speaking and every time that you speak, someone else speaks over you? Stop, pause by taking a deep breath and realize this is about them and not you.

I personally know both sides; the non listened to where others felt that their wisdom was much wiser. only to discover that they did not know what they were speaking of, and me taking the de-railed train back on course with my own wisdom.

or

Being told that just because I am able to project my voice that does not mean I have much to say; I am just loud.

Ahhh contraire! Through vocal training for singing, drama and other avenues, my voice expands well. THis is not to say that I should or purposely try to over speak someone.

In fact, some of my best vocal moments are refined, and they embody the smooth and grace of a fine wine.

With all of the social media noise that can pollute us, Be sure to choose wisely what you voice and how it is voiced.

Sorry, not ever one will wish to hear what you have to say or agree with you. This does not mean giving up on you because of another.

There is wisdom in knowing when to speak and when not to.

Inspiration is key and if I had listened, then many would not hear me and that was not of divine order nor my divine path.  Releasing their anger and pain that I was sided with was part of my resolution.

A quick question are you talking to talk or you speaking to be listened to?

Using the Power of Your Voice

Ways to Have You Voice Heard in a Wise Manner of Speaking:

1. Greet another or others with enthusiasm.  If you are grumpy or aggressive in your greeting people will not wish to listen to you.

2. Watch your tone of voice.  Ninety percent of misunderstandings are about the tone of your voice.

3. Perception.  How is what you are saying being perceived?  In other words are you speaking only to talk or  are you allowing a moment for another to process what you are saying.  For example, do you hear people as well when you are tired or had a long day?

4. Be yourself and enjoy the moment.

5. Step back and Pause.  This goes back to perception. One time I thought that I was not being heard until i stepped back and paused.  This allowed me to realize that I was not only being heard, I was being listened to in a mega manner.

6. Speak from a loving place.  People can tell if you being sincere or blowing smoke.  They can also feel the love in your voice. Reflect on a moment when you were a child; did you wish to be hollered at or spoken to in a calm voice filled with love?

May you use your voice as a wise  and loving communication device.

Why You Should Revel in Your Headstrong Daughter

Recently I witnessed why You should revel in your headstrong daughter:

The farmer had pre-made 1 pound batches that I was not interested in; and as I was awaiting for an answer from the farmer, her daughter stepped in, “Aww, Mom really sometimes, the customer is right; she just wants half a pound of asparagus; money is money and if we do this, she’ll remember and come back; we need good costumers.”  This young lady is about 16 years old; some of the more mature ladies were off put by her statement.

A few moments later, I encounter a “headstrong” female toddler who wanted to bounce her ball to see how high it went. As I tried to stop the ball from rolling into the street, her parents stood looking on in an embarrassed state. I smiled and said, “Please do me a huge favor; love her strength and independence; she is a most blessed joy and one day will empower others.”  The uncle smiles and nods his head in agreement with a quick flash I add, “Dance with her; and she will dance with you.”

Bring It On

I knew that I was being reminded of who I once was.  My family did not relish in the favor of my independent strength; rather I was the last of the adage that children should be seen and not heard: the rendered statement-sit down and shut up echoing throughout my childhood.

Here is why we should enable our willful girls.  Those determined girls blossom into powerful ladies.  They are a blessing and a joy, and help others to shine in their power.

There was once a time where women were seen and not heard; in fact, there are many cultures and countries where this still occurs.

Personal Reflection

Reflect back to a moment to when you wish you had you communicated with your true voice and spoke from an authentic place, but then you did not.  Now look back to a moment when you expressed your true, authentic, powerful voice and how this felt.  It does not mean shouting or being aggressive.  This means to feel empowered and enabled.  Being able to say what you feel and not forgiving for having made a statement that resonates with your heart and soul.

An unwavering girl knows her own power and voice and she is not afraid to use it.  How is this a bad thing? Or rather is it, because you wanted your idea to be the voice of reason as the “adult” or the one in charge; hence that is a control aspect.

Disempower

Step back for a moment; disempower the willfulness of a girl and now she is complacent; her voice unheard and not expressed; her shine has dulled and another has control over her.  Do you wish that to be your daughter?  This is what begins to happen in the sense of domestic violence.  DV can be emotional, mental, physical, sexual and so forth.  Do you wish to teach your daughter to release her power to another, dull her shine and diminish her sparkle or worse her life?

This is not to say that everyone should be voicing whatever pops into their thoughts, that is where wisdom comes into play.  Teach our youth, our girls how to use their voice in a positive manner. Because if they are brash and harsh this can swing into a whole other manner of aggression and isolation.

Let’s teach our girls to use their empowered voices. Let’s help enable their strengths and authentic selves

Most importantly let us teach them their value and worth.

Yes!Natasha, I would like you to help my daughter be her best!
